What Is Shot Blasting?
Shot Blasting is a process used to strip imperfections, for surface protection and to prepare these surfaces for finishing. This can also be used before any welding or colouring. A Shot Blaster uses centrifugal force to fire a stream of abrasive material (steel beads) against a surface. When fired at a smooth surface, the abrasive can roughen the surface and vice versa, this is often essential to treat metals prior to a powder coating.
Similar types of process include sandblasting, water blasting and dry-ice blasting.
