What Is A CNC Plasma Cutter?
Plasma cutting is a process that cuts through materials using an accelerated jet of hot plasma.
A CNC Plasma cutter is a machine that has a plasma torch and is moved and directed by a computer.
CNC refers to “Computer Numerical Control”, which means a computer control the motion of the plasma machine.
CNC Plasma Cutting involves mechanised cutting via a computer system to move the torch in various directions which has been programmed into the computer.
In comparison to water jet cutters, mills and CNC systems, CNC plasma cutters are different as they use a torch with extreme heat.
This type of machine is compromised of straight-edged mechanical cutting. Using a mix of electricity and gas the machine cuts through the sheet precise and exact.
CNC Plasma Cutting can be used on a range of material from stainless steel right through to copper and aluminium. In fact, if the material conducts electricity then it can be cut by a CNC Plasma cutter.
