At Patrick Steel Ltd, we recently embarked on a project to replace the rolling recycling unit of a waste processing and recycling company. This project is significant as it involves upgrading the current system to improve efficiency in filtering out smaller fragments from their recycling processes.

Initial Assessment & Consultation

The project began with a thorough assessment of the existing recycling unit by our good customer ‘PMC Welding Services’ who provides welding and fabricating services. Their team conducted a detailed inspection to understand the limitations of the current setup and identify the improvements needed. 

The old unit, which has been in use for several years, is no longer performing optimally, leading to inefficiencies in the recycling process.

The solution involved designing a new rolling recycling unit with enhanced capabilities. The new unit features 6mm thick plasma cuts. These plasma cuts are crucial for the new design, meaning that the unit can effectively filter out smaller fragments, thus improving the overall efficiency of the recycling process.

Fabrication Process

Once the design was finalised, we began the cutting process. Our skilled metalworkers carefully crafted the 6mm thick plasma cuts, adhering to the highest standards of quality and precision. These cuts were then prepared for the rolling process, a critical step to shape them according to the specifications of the new recycling unit.

The rolling process involves passing the cuts of metal through a series of rollers to achieve the desired curvature and shape. This step is essential to make sure the new unit fits seamlessly into the existing infrastructure of the recycling system.
